Cognizant signs five-year IT services agreement with BayWa
Cognizant and BayWa agreed to a five-year collaboration to address BayWa's digital transformation and IT service operations, with Cognizant assuming responsibility for core IT services and taking on a corresponding number of BayWa employees.
BayWa is based in Munich, operates in the fields of agriculture, heating, mobility, technology and building materials, and has around 400 locations and approximately 8,000 employees.
The agreement covered IT infrastructure, application management, service desk and workplace services, and planned the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and automation, along with continuous modernization of infrastructure and applications and a structured change management approach to actively involve employees.
Under the arrangement Cognizant assumed management of core IT services and BayWa transferred a corresponding number of employees, consolidating infrastructure, application and workplace functions under Cognizant as part of the agreement.
“BayWa chose Cognizant because the service provider responds very flexibly to the needs of the diversified group and offers digital innovation and sustainable IT solutions,” said Thomas Dibbern, CIO at BayWa. “We look forward to contributing our expertise in digitalization and sustainable innovation to BayWa's digital transformation,” said Andreas Golze, Managing Director for Cognizant's DACH Region.
The companies described plans to create a future-ready, scalable IT landscape and, by consolidating functions under Cognizant, increase efficiency and synergies over the five-year collaboration.
