3M showcases material science solutions at Auto Shanghai 2025

3M is debuting at the 21st Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) from April 23 to May 2, showcasing its material science solutions tailored for the automotive sector under the theme “Beyond Wheels, Beyond Tomorrow.”

3M's presence will emphasize its commitment to various industry trends, including the mass adoption of electric vehicles, the emergence of software-defined vehicles, sustainability through lightweighting, enhanced vehicle personalization, and future interior designs that promote comfort and safety.

According to 3M’s 2025 State of Science Insights, 74% of Chinese respondents favor driving electric or hybrid vehicles, a figure significantly higher than the global average of 53%. Key features valued by consumers include battery range, comfort, environmental impact, and entertainment.

At Auto Shanghai, 3M will exhibit several solutions aimed at responding to evolving consumer expectations and trends, such as:

• Battery protection solutions to enhance the lifespan and range of Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries.
• Assembly simplification technologies for efficient battery pack assembly.
• Human-machine interaction enhancements to reduce windshield reflections.
• Comfort features including window films for heat rejection and UV protection.
• Lightweighting components for improved energy efficiency without compromising performance.

Additionally, 3M will sign a strategic cooperation agreement with Fuyao Group at its booth, focusing on automotive glass advancements aimed at improving safety, comfort, and sustainability.

Through increased collaboration with industry leaders, 3M aims to strengthen its role in advancing the future of mobility.
