Webroot recognized by Expert Consumers in 2025 review
Expert Consumers recognized Webroot in its 2025 malware scanner evaluation for real-time malware defense, a development tied to rising cyber threats and increased demand for accessible device protection among households, professionals, and organizations.
The review stressed that threat frequency and complexity had increased and described cost and usability as barriers to adoption; Expert Consumers said many users avoided full system scans because of the time required and noted that subscription pricing influenced purchasing decisions.
Webroot used cloud intelligence and behavioral analysis to assess unknown files and processes in real time, and its malware scanner could complete a device scan in approximately 20 seconds; the software supported quick, full, and scheduled scans, isolated unknown files in a protected environment for observation, and recorded and reversed malicious system changes when detected.
The vendor offered a tiered product lineup: Essentials included antivirus, a password manager, anti-phishing tools, and web filtering; Premium added identity monitoring, dark web surveillance, notifications, and remediation assistance; Total Protection added unlimited cloud backup, a Virtual Private Network (VPN), parental controls, ransomware protection, identity defense, and higher coverage for identity theft reimbursement.
Expert Consumers said the goal was to make scanning a routine action rather than an occasional task.
