Viasat said its ViaSat-3 F3 satellite entered service and that capacity is available for customers operating across the Asia-Pacific region. The company tied the service entry to revenue-generating operations for the satellite and to the availability of throughput capacity as part of its ViaSat-3 constellation.
Viasat characterized Asia-Pacific as a connectivity geography where demand concentrates in specific corridors and markets across a vast area. It also stated that ViaSat-3 F3 increases what it described as flexibility, coverage, and capacity, with competitive bandwidth economics intended to support growth opportunities in its markets.
ViaSat-3 F3 is designed to deliver more than one terabit per second of throughput capacity. Viasat also said the satellite is the second of three satellites in its next-generation Ka-band constellation, and it described a capability to maximize regional capacity density on demand within premium mobility markets, within the satellite’s advanced technology.
Viasat said ViaSat-3 F3 is one of the satellites in its next-generation ViaSat-3 fleet, with ViaSat-3 F1 in service since 2024. It said ViaSat-3 F2, which will serve the Americas, was in the final stages of in-orbit testing and expected to enter service soon, so that the next-generation constellation would be complete. “Viasat-3 F3’s advanced technology, including its ability to maximize regional capacity density on demand within premium mobility markets, will drive growth and improved blended average yield and incremental cash economics across our portfolio,” said Mark Dankberg, Chairman and CEO of Viasat. “Asia-Pacific presents a unique challenge for satellite connectivity, with demand concentrated in specific corridors and markets across a vast geography.
