Schneider Electric, NVIDIA and HPE have entered a strategic collaboration intended to speed the adoption of Physical AI in process and heavy industries. The three companies introduced Industrial AI Agents at the Edge as an initial demonstration of their shared vision.
Process operations run continuously, and reliability, safety, cybersecurity and energy efficiency each bear directly on performance. Much current Physical AI discussion centers on robotics, humanoids and autonomous machines. Until now, no clear blueprint has existed for applying Physical AI across these complex environments.
The solution pairs HPE Private Cloud AI, co-engineered with NVIDIA within the HPE AI Factory with NVIDIA portfolio, with Schneider Electric's operational technology expertise. Autonomous agents operate inside industrial environments, monitoring, reasoning and optimizing operations in real time. Processing at the edge targets three barriers to scaling industrial AI: data sovereignty, cybersecurity and AI consumption costs.
The first three agents address operational technology monitoring, cybersecurity and energy optimization. Deployment and governance run through Schneider Electric's EcoStruxure Industrial Insights apps, which allow customers to manage multiple agents from one environment. CMPC Chile, part of Empresas CMPC S.A., has used Schneider Electric's OTMS in production for three years to monitor control systems across its continuous pulp and paper operations.
“The next generation of industrial innovation will be driven by intelligence embedded directly into industrial operations,” said Gwenaelle Huet, Executive Vice President, Industrial Automation, Schneider Electric. “Industrial operations generate vast amounts of data, but turning that data into action remains one of industry's biggest challenges,” said Sri Kodali, Global Head of Developer Relations – Energy and Utilities at NVIDIA.
“Industrial organizations see real opportunities to use AI, and they want to be sure their sensitive data and critical systems will remain protected,” said Alexia Clements, SVP, Hybrid Cloud Solution Sales at HPE. The companies outlined potential for these capabilities to support increasingly autonomous operations across process industries over time.
