ProMobi Technologies' Scalefusion introduced Programmable Custom Properties to let IT teams automate updates to custom device and user fields, addressing a process that previously required manual changes and produced inefficiencies and potential errors.

Custom properties are data fields IT teams use to track details such as department, location, or whether a device passed a compliance check; those labels helped teams filter devices, pull reports, and run automated workflows, but maintaining them traditionally required manual updates when managing hundreds or thousands of devices.

Programmable Custom Properties allowed scripts to update those fields automatically during execution. For example, a script that checked device encryption could automatically tag unencrypted devices, and the same capability applied to software audits, performance checks, or other script-based operations.

The implementation let administrators configure script-managed fields to prevent accidental modification and logged all script-triggered changes to provide audit visibility, and it enhanced Scalefusion's scripting capabilities by allowing scripts to continuously update the data used for compliance, automation, and reporting workflows.

“IT teams depend on custom properties to label their devices and users with information like asset ID, project assignment. But keeping those properties up to date has always required manual effort, even when scripts are already discovering that information. We built Programmable Custom Properties to close that gap. Scripts can now update the properties they reference, so the data stays accurate without IT teams having to do it manually”,

said Sriram Kakarala, Chief Product Officer at Scalefusion.
