More About Source Photonics
Source Photonics supplies optical transceivers and photonic components that integrate into carrier, cloud, and enterprise network equipment. Its products are used in routers, switches, transport platforms, and access systems to provide high-speed optical interfaces over single-mode and multimode fiber. The portfolio spans short-reach links inside data centers, metro and long-haul connections in service provider backbones, and access links connecting end users to broadband and mobile networks.
In enterprise and cloud environments, Source Photonics offers pluggable transceivers for common form factors such as Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP), SFP+, Quad Small Form-Factor Pluggable (QSFP), and related module types (data center networking). These modules support Ethernet speeds across multiple generations and are intended for use in Top-of-Rack (TOR), leaf-spine, and core switching architectures. They interoperate with standard optical fiber infrastructure and are typically deployed in line with IEEE Ethernet specifications, enabling system vendors and operators to scale port density and bandwidth within standard chassis and white-box platforms.
For telecom service providers, the company delivers optical modules for metro and long-haul transport, mobile fronthaul and backhaul, and aggregation networks (optical networking). These offerings align with prevalent transport protocols and framing schemas such as Ethernet, CPRI/eCPRI in mobile applications, and ITU-T/IEEE specifications where applicable. Modules are designed for use in Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) and CWDM systems, providing various wavelengths and reach options to fit different link budgets and network topologies, including ring, mesh, and point-to-point architectures.
Source Photonics also addresses broadband access, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and fiber-to-the-building deployments, with optical access modules that support Passive Optical Network (PON) architectures (broadband access). These products are designed for integration into optical line terminals in central offices and optical network terminals or Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) at the edge. They align with standard PON frameworks defined by industry bodies, enabling service providers to extend high-capacity access services over shared fiber infrastructure.
From a directory and categorization perspective, Source Photonics fits into optical networking hardware, data center optics, mobile transport optics, and broadband access optics. Its offerings are components within larger network architectures rather than standalone systems, and they target OEMs, network equipment vendors, cloud operators, telecom carriers, and enterprises that require standards-based optical connectivity for switching, routing, and access platforms.
