OpenText named in IDC MarketScape for worldwide analytical databases
OpenText was named in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Analytical Databases 2025 vendor assessment, noting its OpenText Analytics Database as a relevant offering for organizations handling large AI-related data workloads.
The company cited security certifications, data protection, comprehensive audit logging, and support for key security controls as areas organizations valued, and it positioned the database as a secure foundation for AI-driven data workloads.
OpenText Analytics Database, formerly Vertica, is described as an AI-powered, high-performance query engine that delivered real-time analytics at petabyte scale. The platform supported in-database Machine Learning (ML), reduced data duplication, and aimed to improve cost efficiency while handling structured, semistructured, and time-series data.
The assessment referenced a Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) columnar architecture for predictable performance on large analytical workloads, advanced encoding and compression to reduce storage requirements and accelerate scans, and deployment options across on-premises (on-prem), private cloud, and major public cloud environments with containerized deployments managed by Kubernetes.
“Organizations are under unrelenting pressure to deliver high-performance analytics on massive amounts of data,” said Jason Blackett, Vice President of Software Engineering, OpenText.
The release noted that certain statements were forward-looking and warned that actual outcomes could differ due to assumptions, risks, and uncertainties.
