NVIDIA and Google participate in CFAS launch for AI security
NVIDIA, Google, OpenAI, and AWS participated in the launch of the Center for Frontier Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security (CFAS) in Arlington, Virginia. The event, held in October 2025, gathered over 40 leaders from government, industry, and academia to discuss the integration of AI within national security frameworks.
CFAS aims to create an independent non-profit organization focused on the operationalization of AI applications for national security. The organization seeks to unite various stakeholders, including government entities, academic institutions, and venture capitalists, to develop and promote standards, tools, and mechanisms for securing advanced AI systems.
Marina Theodotou, Founder and Executive Director of CFAS, emphasized the initiative's goal to translate existing policy research into actionable frameworks. The organization stresses the importance of a secure AI ecosystem for the United States, highlighting the need for collaboration across different sectors.
Key priorities identified during the launch included enhancing compute power, model assurance, validated testing, data governance, and supply chain resilience. Participants underscored the need for shared standards to align AI technology with national security objectives, noting that effective security measures will depend on both technological advancements and public-private partnerships.
CFAS will act as a think-and-do tank, facilitating expert collaborations to drive policy implementation and technical development concerning AI in national security. By fostering partnerships among diverse stakeholders, the organization aims to enhance accountability and resilience in defense and national security contexts.
