Nokia extends partnership with VNPT for infrastructure upgrade
Nokia extended its partnership with Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) to upgrade the radio infrastructure in Vietnam. The agreement focuses on improvements in the Hanoi area, border provinces, and the southern region to enhance digital connectivity.
The deal includes the deployment of Nokia’s AirScale equipment, which utilizes ReefShark technology to provide connectivity and increased network capacity while lowering energy consumption. It also incorporates comprehensive network management services to ensure performance and reliability.
This upgrade aims to improve mobile coverage, particularly in border areas and key economic centers, facilitating access to telecommunications services and supporting Vietnam’s economic and digital goals. Additionally, Nokia plans to establish Vietnam as a manufacturing hub for AirScale equipment in 2024.
Huynh Quang Liem, CEO of VNPT, stated, “Extending our partnership with Nokia is an important step in strengthening Vietnam’s telecommunications and digital infrastructure.” Hiro Miura, Head of Southeast Asia Market Unit at Nokia, expressed pride in deepening the partnership, emphasizing the aim to enhance access to digital services for people and businesses.
