Nokia appoints David Heard as President of Network Infrastructure

Nokia has made key leadership changes, elevating David Heard to President of its Network Infrastructure group while Federico Guillén approaches his retirement, set for June 30, 2025. Heard, who joined Nokia after the acquisition of Infinera, will operate from Dallas and report to President and CEO Justin Hotard.

Heard has a robust background in the telecommunications industry, having held positions at JDSU, BigBand Networks, Somera Communications, Lucent, and AT&T. Hotard acknowledged Guillén's contributions in developing the Network Infrastructure segment and expressed confidence in Heard's capabilities to enhance operations and AI-focused solutions.

Nokia’s subsidiary, Enscryb, has teamed up with NODES from Norway and has secured initial clients Nanuq and Smartecon. The focus of Enscryb is on real-time energy orchestration using digital twins and data analytics to improve the management of renewable energy initiatives.

This collaboration employs Nokia Bell Labs technology to optimize energy systems, assisting Nanuq in Electric Vehicle (EV) fleet electrification and aiding Smartecon with renewable energy projects. Moreover, Nokia has partnered with Telstra to provide developers with secure access to network application programming interfaces (APIs). This joint effort, linked with Telstra's muru-D Labs, integrates the Network as Code platform from Nokia to enhance network functionalities and enterprise applications such as traffic management.

This initiative enables developers to utilize live and simulated APIs, fostering application development with Telstra's enhanced network capabilities.
