Itential launches MCP Server for secure AI integration in enterprises
Itential, launched the Itential Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server at the Network Automation Forum’s AutoCon 3 event. This new server features an orchestration and governance layer based on the MCP, facilitating secure integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems, including large language models (LLMs) and AI Operations (AIOps) platforms, with the Itential Platform. As organizations begin to operationalize AI technologies, they face challenges in translating AI-generated actions into infrastructure changes. The Itential MCP Server connects AI systems to the Itential Platform, ensuring that each action complies with policy-driven workflows and validations. This approach is intended to provide the necessary trust and visibility required for enterprises adopting AI. Peter Sprygada, Chief Architect at Itential, highlighted that while AI agents are quickly evolving, enterprises require control and security around their use. The MCP Server aims to center AI-driven infrastructure operations while allowing for compliant and auditable actions. With key features including AIOps-triggered automation and self-service capabilities for users, the MCP Server provides a framework for effective collaboration among AI agents while maintaining oversight of automated infrastructure changes. Itential also announced an integration with AIOps provider Selector to enhance automation capabilities, allowing for closed-loop interactions between detection and remediation processes. This integration will be demonstrated live at both AutoCon 3 and Cisco Live, illustrating real-world applications of the MCP Server in AI automation workflows.
