Huawei showcases digital education technologies at APAN60

Huawei participated as a diamond sponsor at APAN60, held from July 28 to August 1, showcasing its digital education technologies in Hong Kong. The company hosted the Huawei Intelligent Education Forum, gathering over 100 leaders from National Research and Education Networks (NREN), universities, and IT sectors to discuss advancements in intelligent education.

Aaron Wang, General Manager of Enterprise Business at Huawei Hong Kong, stated that “The digital transformation of education is a collaborative journey—where global expertise meets regional needs to build an inclusive, future-ready ecosystem.” He emphasized co-creating solutions that enhance educational accessibility and effectiveness.

Tang Fei, a member of the Legislative Council in Hong Kong, noted that over 77% of local teachers used Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. He mentioned the importance of AI in improving teaching efficiency and reducing workload while calling for better training and localized AI tool development.

Wilson Kwok, Chairman of APAN60 LOC, introduced JUCC’s mission to enhance educational collaboration across Hong Kong universities, focusing on providing IT services for teaching and research.

Peter Zhang, Vice President of Huawei’s Global Public Sector BU, remarked on the company’s 30 years in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and its comprehensive solutions. He expressed readiness to partner with the education industry for talent development.

Xin Yao from Lingnan University highlighted a human-centric approach to Trustworthy AI (TAI), advocating for technology that serves societal needs through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Collaboration between Huawei and Shenyang Institute of Technology was discussed by Justin Mendes, who noted joint efforts to integrate industry with education through innovative dual-teacher instruction.

Flora Ng, CIO at The University of Hong Kong, emphasized AI’s transformative role in education, urging for responsible adoption and collaboration among universities and industry leaders.

Roshan G. Ragel, CEO of Lanka Research and Education Network, shared insights on Sri Lanka's approach to building an inclusive AI-enabled education ecosystem inspired by the forum discussions.

Puklao Sithithavorn from UniNet highlighted AI’s broad applications in Thailand, advocating for its accessibility and ethical use to benefit communities.

Hong-Eng Koh from Huawei concluded the discussions by addressing how sovereign AI can foster intelligent transformation in education and research.

Dilan Huang from Huawei APAC acknowledged the trust from customers and partners, expressing intent to enhance education through competitive solutions. Currently, Huawei serves over 7,800 clients in the education sector across more than 120 countries, aiming to bridge the digital divide.
