Huawei releases top 10 charging network trends

Huawei released the Top 10 Trends of Charging Network Industry 2026, and Wang Zhiwu, President of Huawei Smart Charging Network Domain, provided a comprehensive interpretation of the industry and technological trends set out in the document.

The report described high-quality development as a primary focus, noting that upgrades of legacy charging devices were addressed to meet the energy needs of different passenger and commercial vehicle models, and that unified planning, standards, supervision, and O&M were cited as components of extending ultra-fast charging capability to megawatt-scale deployments.

Technical topics in the report included third-generation power semiconductor materials, high-C-rate traction batteries, liquid-cooled ultra-fast charging versus air-cooled systems, DC-based ESS+charger configurations, station-level modular construction, and a grid-forming PV+ESS system able to operate on-grid or off-grid; the document also outlined a comprehensive electrical safety protection architecture and a cybersecurity foundation for charging networks.

The publication listed ten trends that covered vehicle charging performance, logistics electrification, station capacity and clustering, cooling approaches, energy storage integration, modular engineering, campus microgrid configurations combining PV+ESS+charger+vehicle+network, and AI-enabled coordination across networks, stations, chargers, and vehicles; Wang Zhiwu provided a comprehensive interpretation of those trends.

Huawei will continue to work with partners to accelerate the rollout of seamless, high-quality ultra-fast charging networks, and capture opportunities of mobility electrification.
