Gemtek Technology secures CableLabs certification for DOCSIS 3.1 modem.

Gemtek Technology, a Taiwan-based provider of wireless broadband solutions, announced that its GT-DUO31 Data over Cable Service Interface Specifications (DOCSIS) 3.1 Cable Modem has received CableLabs certification. This certification represents Gemtek's entry into the North American market, with shipments currently in progress to a major cable operator.

The GT-DUO31 modem delivers download speeds of up to 4.5 Gbps and upload speeds of 1.6 Gbps, suitable for applications such as high-resolution streaming and smart home connectivity. It features dual 2.5G Ethernet ports to improve network efficiency for users.

Henrick Marin, General Manager of North America at Gemtek, said, “Achieving CableLabs certification for the GT-DUO31 validates the quality and reliability of our broadband solutions. We are thrilled to join the supply chain of leading North American telecom operators and are excited to pave the way for our DOCSIS 4.0 rollout in the near future.”

Gemtek's partnership with MaxLinear, a DOCSIS System-on-Chip provider, has played a crucial role in these developments. Marin noted that the company's strategy includes supporting operators during the transition to DOCSIS 4.0, ensuring they are equipped with modern broadband solutions.

The upcoming DOCSIS 4.0 Cable Modem aims to support downstream speeds of 10 Gbps and upstream speeds of 4 Gbps, built on advanced technologies for data and voice service integration. Gemtek plans to complete CableLabs certification for this modem in the latter half of 2025.

With initial shipments of the GT-DUO31, Gemtek is also looking to broaden its presence in the North American DOCSIS market and intends to extend its product lines into Europe and the Asia-Pacific region, fostering new partnerships and expanding its market reach.
