Fastly updates bot management to improve security and user experience
Fastly has announced an update to its Bot Management platform, aiming to improve bot detection and reduce reliance on CAPTCHAs, which have often frustrated users. The update introduces three features designed to enhance security against threats such as account takeovers and fraud without compromising the user experience.
The new features include Dynamic Challenges, which tailors verification methods based on real-time traffic analysis, Advanced Client-Side Detection to identify sophisticated bots posing as legitimate users, and Compromised Credential Checking that helps businesses prevent unauthorized account access by matching login attempts against known compromised credentials.
Kip Compton, Chief Product Officer at Fastly, stated, “Security teams shouldn’t have to choose between blocking malicious bots and frustrating customers.” He emphasized that the update allows genuine users to navigate sites smoothly while blocking harmful activities.
Fastly's enhancements aim to balance security needs with user experience, offering a way to mitigate the impact of malicious bots while ensuring that legitimate users face minimal disruptions during logins and transactions. These updates position Fastly's Bot Management as a more user-friendly solution for organizations dealing with increasingly sophisticated threats.
Christopher Rodriguez, Research Director at IDC, noted that the latest features enable organizations to better detect and respond to automated threats while maintaining an optimal experience for end users.
Fastly Bot Management is now available to all Fastly customers, with additional information accessible through their official website.
