F5.5G All-Optical Industry Summit Highlights Growth in AI Era
During MWC Shanghai 2025, the F5.5G All-Optical Industry Summit focused on the growth and development of the F5.5G industry. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, and Maxis of Malaysia. They shared insights into the latest commercial practices surrounding 10 Gbps all-optical broadband and premium optical transmission.
In recent years, F5.5G all-optical networks have seen commercial deployment expand globally. Over 70 carriers have introduced 10 Gbps packages, making way for new Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Additionally, more than 240 networks operating at 400G have been deployed. The industry is also investigating the construction of metro networks with 1 ms latency, facilitating rapid user access to cloud computing power.
As AI progresses to become integral to the global digital economy, carriers are evolving into providers of connection, computing, and application services. Li Peng, Senior Vice President of Huawei, noted that homes and enterprises will be crucial in this shift. He emphasized a collaborative effort to advance F5.5G all-optical networks to enhance AI applications for users.
Bob Chen, President of Huawei’s Optical Business Product Line, detailed innovations in the F5.5G networks aimed at enhancing home broadband services. He stated that improving user experience and providing new services remains essential. Huawei's solutions include upgrades in bandwidth, differentiated user experiences, and new intelligent devices designed to support a variety of AI applications in households.
