DigitalOcean Kubernetes service enhances scalability for businesses

DigitalOcean has introduced enhancements to its DigitalOcean Kubernetes Service (DOKS), allowing businesses to scale effortlessly up to 1,000 nodes. These updates focus on improving networking and performance, which aim to simplify cloud integration while reducing operational overhead and costs for tech companies.

The new DOKS offers a straightforward 1-click experience for cluster creation, optimized Central Processing Unit (CPU) and Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) options, and integrated cloud resources. This allows customers to efficiently manage infrastructure from daily workloads to sudden traffic spikes, alongside transparent pricing without hidden fees.

Bratin Saha, Chief Product and Technology Officer at DigitalOcean, stated, “DigitalOcean is excited to announce a major evolution of DOKS, helping growing tech companies overcome scalability and performance barriers with Kubernetes.” He noted that this release simplifies secure cloud networking and reduces operational management.

Key updates include seamless scaling from a few nodes to 1,000, simplified Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networking that enhances security, improved data plane latency, and fully-managed Cilium for advanced networking, which minimizes the need for operational management.

NoBid, an ad-tech platform that processes 200 billion auctions monthly, utilizes DOKS to handle over 300,000 requests per second. Shawn Petersen, CIO at NoBid, remarked, “DigitalOcean Kubernetes provides NoBid with a powerful platform for our containerized workloads. The ability to rapidly scale based on business demand was a key differentiator for us.”
