Dell’Oro Group reported that the worldwide Network Security market reached nearly $8B in 2Q 2026, up 18% year-over-year. The report said firewall demand reaccelerated as organizations refreshed and expanded network security capacity, while broader security spending also increased.
Dell’Oro Group described 2Q 2026 as a period where growth extended beyond firewall refresh. It pointed to increased spending related to data security and application front-door protection to support AI security initiatives, which it said indicated the quarter was broader than a hardware rebound.
In the report’s view, firewalls increased from 9% growth in 1Q 2026 to 18% in 2Q 2026, supported by lifecycle refreshes, capacity additions, branch modernization, and virtual enforcement. It also described security service edge as a central control point, split into core functions and extended functions that included data security and AI-governance functions.
Additional findings cited included momentum for Web Application Firewalls moving beyond traditional web protection toward APIs, bots, automated traffic, and application-front-door consolidation. For Application Delivery Controllers, Dell’Oro Group said installed-base modernization and capacity expansion improved the segment, with F5’s BIG-IP migration cycle contributing, while it cautioned the improvement remained concentrated. Mauricio Sanchez, Sr. Director, Enterprise Security and Networking at Dell’Oro Group, said, “Firewall spending reaccelerated because customers had concrete reasons to modernize.”
“The broader Network Security result tells a second story. Due to the growing need to secure AI, enterprises are extending cloud-delivered security into sensitive-data controls while treating the application front door as a more strategic enforcement point for APIs, bots, and automated traffic. Those motions are expanding security spending beyond the Firewall refresh and helping keep growth broad across the market,” added Sanchez.
