Cohere partners with Singapore's CSIT on secure AI for national security

Summary

Cohere and Singapore's Centre for Strategic Infocomm Technologies (CSIT) formed a partnership to advance the deployment of AI applications in highly secure environments supporting Singapore's national security operations.

Cohere provides sovereign AI to governments and regulated industries, and its APAC customer base has grown fivefold over the past year. The company reports strong growth among organizations in financial services, manufacturing, energy, technology, and the public sector. Cohere also works with Fujitsu, LG CNS, and Japan's Digital Agency to deploy secure, enterprise-grade AI systems.

Under the partnership, CSIT will use Cohere's enterprise-grade AI models and North, its agentic AI platform, to accelerate deployment within highly secure environments. Described capabilities include deployment flexibility for fully on-premises and secured environments, centralized AI governance for agents, workflows, policies, and compliance requirements, and secure integration with existing systems through role-based access controls. Model interoperability and performance designed to support thousands of users complete the list.

The partners previously completed a pilot that showed Cohere can deploy and operate AI within secure on-premises environments while integrating with existing systems and workflows. They are now building on that work and evaluating potential applications, including secure knowledge retrieval, automated analysis and report generation, and agentic workflows for national security operations.

“Cohere is deeply committed to helping enterprises and governments build long-term sovereign AI capabilities,” said Andrew Chang, Vice President of APAC, Cohere.

“As cyber threats grow in sophistication and threat actors use AI to amplify their attacks, CSIT is developing AI-enabled capabilities to strengthen Singapore's digital defence and secure our digital systems,” said Alvin Huang, Chief, Data and AI at CSIT. Cohere plans to quadruple its regional presence by the end of 2027 through new investments, local partnerships, and additional offices across APAC.
