Coder added Claude Code support to its Agent Relay environment, expanding how Claude Code runs within Coder workspaces. The change focuses on execution that stays on customer-controlled infrastructure.
Coder said Agent Relay was launched on September 2, with Claude Code support becoming available for customers needing network-governed, sandboxed, and auditable execution. Anthropic continues to handle billing and the agent loop, while the agent’s touched systems remain within the organization’s own machines.
The integration runs on Claude Code’s publicly available self-hosted environments. Each Coder workspace starts a Claude Code runner that opens an outbound connection to Anthropic’s backend. Developers keep the Claude Desktop and claude.ai experience, while tool calls execute inside the self-hosted workspaces, using sandboxed, ephemeral sessions scoped to a single Claude Code session.

The direction from here is open: any provider of self-hosted cloud agents will be able to build with Coder and Agent Relay over time, bringing their agents into the same governed execution model.
