Coalition Urges House to Advance American Broadband Deployment Act to Accelerate Nationwide Connectivity

A coalition of communications and infrastructure organizations sent a letter to U.S. House leaders urging action on the American Broadband Deployment Act (H.R. 2289). The groups said the bill would establish a streamlined, predictable nationwide permitting framework for broadband deployment.

The letter frames the issue around deployment timelines and the use of federal broadband investments, including Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD). It says persistent permitting barriers could delay deployment and reduce the full benefits of those funds.

In describing the bill, the coalition said the American Broadband Deployment Act of 2025 would codify long-standing, bipartisan FCC policies and create consistent rules intended to reduce delays and lower costs while speeding network expansion across communities nationwide.

The coalition also linked permitting reform to connectivity needs associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and asked the House to bring the American Broadband Deployment Act to the floor without delay. “Broadband underpins our society and economic growth, and its importance is only rising as Artificial Intelligence (‘AI’) becomes embedded in daily life,” the group stated in the letter. “The American Broadband Deployment Act [will establish] a nationwide, predictable, and proportionate permitting framework to accelerate deployment, close the digital divide, and bring connected tools to every community.”
