Cloud Range said it published an AI Agent Readiness Check intended to help security leaders determine whether an AI agent could be granted authority over production systems. The approach centers on measuring agent behavior during live attack simulations before deployment.
The company tied the check to an evaluation gap described in the International AI Safety Report 2026, which it said noted that performance on pre-deployment tests does not reliably predict real-world utility or risk. Cloud Range also described its AI Validation Range™ as a controlled, non-production environment designed for validation and measurement.
Cloud Range said the AI Agent Readiness Check identifies six areas to measure before giving an AI agent authority in production, using evidence from validating the agent while live-fire attacks run in a controlled, non-production environment. The questions cover behaviors such as reliability when telemetry contradicts itself, sensitive information disclosure, and actions taken when a goal conflicts with a permission.
In its AI Validation Range™, Cloud Range said organizations connect their AI models and agents through a secure API key to infrastructure intended to reflect operational reality across IT, OT/ICS, cloud and hybrid environments running licensed versions of security tools the team already uses. The company said teams can ingest their own network traffic baselines as PCAPs, run live-fire simulations while the agent works the incident, and measure detection and response actions with no production system exposed. “Pilots and surgeons train in simulation because making judgment calls under pressure requires safe practice. The same standard applies to an AI agent making decisions in a security operations center,” said Debbie Gordon, Founder and CEO of Cloud Range.
Cloud Range said it also described flexibly scheduled programs, mapping adversary behavior to the MITRE ATT&CK® framework for multi-stage attacks, and reported that 30% overall incident response time improvement followed live-fire simulation programs.
