Cequence Security said NTT DOCOMO deployed its application and API protection platform. The deployment connects application and API protection to DOCOMO service infrastructure, with Cequence adding Japan-focused expansion plans after the rollout.
Cequence described the platform as selected to protect the applications, APIs, and data supporting DOCOMO’s service infrastructure. It also framed the work as a deployment milestone for Japan and stated it would expand sales, technical, and customer support capabilities while deepening collaboration with ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC), Cequence’s domestic sales partner.
Cequence said the same platform helps protect applications and data across web, mobile, API, and AI channels from attacks, business logic abuse, and unauthorized access, while providing security, governance, and control capabilities for AI agents. It tied the increase in API-based communications to AI agents using APIs to interact with enterprise systems, cloud services, and other AI agents.
Cequence also launched Cequence AI Gateway in Japan, which it described as extending application and API protection technology into the AI agent domain. It said the solution provides authentication, authorization, visibility, governance, and control capabilities for AI agents accessing internal and external APIs and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and referenced features including secure access to APIs and MCP servers, authentication and authorization, monitoring and visibility, tool and agent privilege management based on least-privilege, real-time behavioral analysis and guardrails, and governance and compliance management.
