Brightspeed raises $1.65 billion for fiber network expansion

Brightspeed raised $1.65 billion to advance its fiber network buildout across 20 states. This capital increase follows a $575 million bond offering in June and $3.7 billion raised in August 2024. The funding supports the deployment of multi-gig-speed connectivity to underserved communities, with a goal of reaching over five million homes and businesses.

Over the past few years, Brightspeed successfully connected more than 2.3 million premises with fiber, achieving a build rate of one million new fiber locations annually while maintaining competitive build costs. These effective strategies position Brightspeed as an efficient player in the fiber broadband sector.

Michel Combes, executive chairman and CEO of Brightspeed, emphasized the importance of this capital infusion, stating, “This will enable us to expand our fiber network to more homes, businesses, and communities who need it.” Combes noted the company’s solid foundation and experienced leadership as crucial components in providing long-term value.

Brightspeed utilizes XGS-PON technology to deliver symmetrical multi-gig speeds. It was recognized by HighSpeedInternet.com as the fastest internet service provider in the country for 2025. The company's services currently extend across more than 530 communities.
