BAE Systems received a contract from Lockheed Martin to deliver electronic warfare (EW) systems for F-35 Lightning II fighter jets. The work targets EW capabilities described in the agreement for use on the aircraft in contested environments.

BAE Systems said it would build on its existing alliance with Lockheed Martin and the F-35 Joint Program Office while continuing production for the global F-35 fleet. The company also reported having delivered more than 1,500 EW systems for the F-35 and continuing design and manufacturing at facilities in Austin, Texas, and Manchester, Merrimack, and Nashua in New Hampshire.

The contract centers on the AN/ASQ-239 EW system, which BAE Systems described as providing electromagnetic spectrum superiority. The company said the system includes discriminating defensive and offensive capabilities and supports operation in challenging environments protected by enemy fighters, missiles, drones, and the latest integrated air defense systems.

BAE Systems planned to manufacture and deliver EW systems for F-35 Lots 20-22, and to provide systems to retrofit and modernize older aircraft. The company cited automation, latest system designs, and supply chain use to accelerate production, along with investments in facilities to create and sustain more systems at greater speed. “We've been a trusted contributor since the origin of the Joint Strike Fighter program, and we've continuously evolved our EW hardware and software to maintain our warfighters' decisive battlespace advantage,” said Amber Dolan, Vice President of F-35 Solutions at BAE Systems. “We're laser-focused on scaling production and delivering software-based capabilities to meet the rapid pace of conflict.”
