ROC ranks as #1 American facial recognition provider in NIST FRTE, achieving top global marks for accuracy and speed.

ROC, a provider of American-made multimodal biometrics and Vision Artificial Intelligence (AI), announced that its latest face recognition algorithm achieved high marks in the NIST Face Recognition Vendor Test (FRTE). This performance established ROC as the leading Western vendor for mission-critical identity verification, particularly in border security, investigative search, and high-throughput identification.

Brendan Klare, Chief Scientist and Co-Founder at ROC, stated, “NIST FRTE is the most rigorous and respected global benchmark for face recognition. This achievement reflects more than a decade of focused research and development here in the United States. What sets this algorithm apart is its consistency. It performs at the highest level across verification, identification, and investigative search.” Klare emphasized ROC's credibility among partners due to this consistency.

ROC's performance in the NIST FRTE benchmarks included being the top Western vendor for Investigative Search, where ROC achieved the highest accuracy among Western vendors in matching traveler kiosk photos against a 1.6 million-person database. The company ranked first for Visa-Border Verification by verifying identities through live border photos matched against prior images. Additionally, it placed second for Identification, showcasing exceptional performance on challenging images and achieving fast search speeds.

Keyur Patel, Director of Machine Learning (ML) at ROC, noted, “Our NIST performance isn't just about a breakthrough algorithm; it's a testament to our unique development process. ROC algorithms are built on decades of expertise in facial recognition and advanced with the latest in AI research and optimization.” These achievements reinforce ROC’s position in biometrics, highlighting its commitment to providing reliable identification solutions for defense, public safety, and digital trust applications.
