Mitsubishi Electric to Acquire Nozomi Networks in Cybersecurity Expansion
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation signed an agreement to acquire Nozomi Networks, bolstering its capabilities in Operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), and cybersecurity. This transaction reflects Mitsubishi Electric's strategy to enhance cybersecurity services and operational resilience by harnessing data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The acquisition is scheduled to finalize in the fourth calendar quarter of 2025.
Nozomi Networks will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Electric, maintaining its brand, leadership, and existing customer relations. This decision aims to optimize service continuity for Nozomi's stakeholders while leveraging Mitsubishi Electric’s extensive industrial experience and technological resources.
The partnership capitalizes on a history of collaboration, notably following Mitsubishi Electric's participation in Nozomi's $100 million Series E funding round in March 2024. Leaders from both organizations expressed anticipation about integrating their strengths to deliver advanced cybersecurity solutions and operational improvements for industrial clients.
Satoshi Takeda, Mitsubishi Electric's Senior Vice President, highlighted the value of Nozomi's reputation in OT security technology. He noted that the combination of resources would pave the way for enhancing customer services and support. Edgard Capdevielle, CEO of Nozomi Networks, emphasized the seamless continuation of service for existing customers after the acquisition, promising a strengthened focus on innovation driven by combined capabilities.
With over a century of experience in the industrial sector, Mitsubishi Electric aims to support Nozomi's growth in cybersecurity while driving digital transformation across critical infrastructure. The acquisition also positions both companies to advance cybersecurity solutions tailored for diverse OT and IoT applications globally.
