Darling Ingredients selects Cato Networks for SASE

Darling Ingredients selected Cato Networks as its preferred Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) provider to consolidate a fragmented vendor environment, reduce complexity and costs, and modernize global connectivity and security.

The company described its IT footprint as built over time from a patchwork of security and networking point solutions. It had used three vendors with four consoles across Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN), physical and virtual firewalls, URL filtering, and Virtual Private Network (VPN) to connect and secure more than 260 global sites, about 16,000 employees, 14 data centers, and four private Points of Presence (PoP).

The release said Darling Ingredients used the Cato SASE Platform to scale and protect itself from cybersecurity incidents. The release described Cato Networks as delivering enterprise security and networking in a single cloud platform and outlined an open, modular SASE architecture based on SD-WAN, a purpose-built global cloud network, and an embedded cloud-native security stack.

Darling Ingredients consolidated vendors from three to one and simplified global IT operations, which the release said reduced contractor and licensing costs and delivered more than $750,000 in annual operational savings. The release said manual compilation of threat activity decreased by 66 percent, the platform blocked more than two million threats per month, and priority one incident staffing dropped from 10–12 responders to 2–3 (up to an 83 percent reduction).

“We wanted a single vendor that could do it all,” said Daniels. “By choosing Cato Networks, Darling Ingredients replaced multiple tools with multiple consoles from multiple vendors with a single, cloud-native platform and single console,” said Weston. “With a SASE platform, Cato enables Darling Ingredients not only to strengthen security, accelerate troubleshooting, and reduce operational costs, but also to scale and evolve their IT and security strategy in the future as their business grows.”

The organizations described plans to scale and evolve Darling Ingredients' IT and security strategy in the future as the business grows.
