Commvault integrates Delinea Secret Server with Commvault Cloud
Commvault and Delinea announced an integration that connected Delinea's Secret Server with the Commvault Cloud platform to improve credential security, auditability, and compliance for joint customers.
Securing user credentials was described in the release as a common challenge, compounded by the growth of non-human machine identities used by applications, scripts, and automated services. The release cited an Identity Defined Security Alliance finding that in 2024 about one-third (33%) of security incidents stemmed from compromised privileged identities.
The integration centralized credential management by enabling storage, rotation, and governance of credentials within a centralized secrets vault; it also provided automatic, just-in-time issuance of temporary credentials for each backup or restore job with revocation upon completion, and it offered detailed audit logs plus enforcement of least-privilege controls to support Sarbanes–Oxley Act (SOX), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), PCI-DSS, and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.
The companies said the work linked Commvault Cloud with Delinea Secret Server to help strengthen credential security, support compliance initiatives, and streamline data recovery, and the release listed benefits including reduced risk of downtime, stronger support for compliance objectives, increased IT efficiency, and faster threat response.
“Commvault unifies data security, identity resilience, and cyber recovery on one platform – and continues to expand the power of the platform through integrations that deliver exceptional value for customers,” said Alan Atkinson, Chief Business Development Officer, Commvault. “Our integration with Delinea strengthens customers' ability to manage credentials and limit privilege misuse, which can help protect against rapidly evolving identity-driven attacks while advancing unified resilience.”
The integration was made available globally to joint customers at no extra cost, and the release stated that the expansion of Commvault's security ecosystem continued to enhance the company's security-related capabilities.
