NVIDIA, Google, OpenAI, and AWS participated in the launch of the Center for Frontier Artificial Intelligence (AI) Security to enhance AI policy for national security.
ARLINGTON, Va., Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The Center for Frontier AI Security (CFAS) has been formally established as a hub for collaboration in AI and national security. Industry leaders from NVIDIA, Google, OpenAI, and AWS, along with over 40 representatives from academia, venture capital, and government convened at CFAS's inaugural meeting to initiate a focused approach to deploy AI security within national defense and intelligence operations.
CFAS operates as an independent non-profit organization aimed at integrating AI into national security practices. Its mission involves uniting government, industry, academia, and other stakeholders to promote the security of advanced AI models and co-create a framework of standards and tools tailored for national security.
“CFAS seeks to operationalize AI in national security by convening stakeholders across government, industry, academia, venture capital, and think tanks to advance existing policy research into robust, actionable frameworks that establish a secure and trustworthy U.S. AI technology ecosystem capable of global leadership and defense resilience,” said Marina Theodotou, Founder and Executive Director of CFAS.
During the launch event, participants outlined priorities essential for secure AI integration in national security, emphasizing areas such as compute power, model assurance, validated testing, data governance, and supply chain resilience. Leaders highlighted the need for shared standards and methodologies that align AI capabilities with national security objectives.
CFAS will function as a think-and-do tank, bringing together experts from various sectors to foster policy development, technical workshops, and research collaborations. This initiative aims to encourage trust and collaboration among government entities, researchers, investors, and technology suppliers.
By promoting a cooperative environment, CFAS endeavors to create a framework that supports the effective integration of AI technologies, ensuring they align with security requirements and uphold democratic values.
