Akamai Technologies expands partnership with Apiiro

Akamai Technologies, Inc. has expanded its partnership with Apiiro to enhance application security throughout the software development lifecycle. This collaboration integrates Akamai's Application Programming Interface (API) security platform with Apiiro's agentic application security posture management (ASPM) platform. The aim is to help enterprises secure applications more effectively amid evolving cybersecurity challenges.

The partnership, first established in 2024, has evolved in response to growing enterprise needs that extend beyond API security. Now, businesses require comprehensive visibility across various application components, addressing risks in the software supply chain and consolidating fragmented security tools. By leveraging Akamai's strengths in API security alongside Apiiro's ASPM, enterprises can improve governance, speed up remediation processes, and manage application risk efficiently.

The expanded collaboration will involve joint customer support and aligning product roadmaps. The integrated platform aims to provide a unified view of application risk, covering API discovery, posture management, open source components, and configuration management. Companies like Akamai and Apiiro are responding to the urgency for faster development cycles and the complexities brought by AI-driven expansion in application features.

According to Patrick Sullivan, Akamai's CTO of Security Strategy, the partnership enables customers to manage application risk holistically. The integrated platform allows enterprises to connect runtime insights with a prioritized vulnerability backlog. Apiiro's CEO, Idan Plotnik, emphasized the importance of delivering a unified approach to security. Together, they aim to provide enterprises with the visibility and workflows necessary for effective risk management.
