Activision Blizzard adopts Oracle Database@Azure for cloud migration
Activision Blizzard adopted Oracle Database@Azure to enhance its cloud migration strategy. This initiative aligns with growing demand for enterprise Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities and multicloud solutions. Introducing new services and enhancements, Oracle Database@Azure is now accessible in 28 Microsoft Azure regions, with additional locations planned for development.
Aimed at facilitating seamless data management, Oracle now offers the Oracle AI Database and Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse services to support customer needs. The new partner program allows Microsoft and Oracle partners to resell Oracle Database@Azure, enhancing customization options for clients in multicloud and IT modernization efforts.
Karan Batta, senior vice president of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, noted, “We’re seeing rapid adoption of Oracle Database@Azure as global organizations accelerate cloud migrations to leverage new AI capabilities.” He highlighted that embedded AI in the database layer enables analytics where data resides, eliminating latency and potentially expensive data movement.
Mahesh Tyagi, vice president of finance engineering at Activision Blizzard, highlighted the benefit of native real-time data access facilitated by this integration, stating, “Oracle Database@Azure delivers the high performance of Oracle Exadata natively within Azure, empowering us to move our Oracle workloads to the cloud without compromise.”
Brett Tanzer, vice president of Azure product management at Microsoft, emphasized the collaborative nature of their offering: “Great AI innovation is built on the core data in customers' mission-critical line-of-business applications and databases.” Together with Oracle, the goal is to enable customers to modernize their IT infrastructures securely and effectively.
