Ando, a messaging platform for teams working alongside AI agents, emerged from stealth and reported $20 million in funding. The company said the platform was built so humans and AI agents could communicate and collaborate within shared team spaces.

Ando said it started building about a year earlier and designed the product from the ground up for collaboration between people and AI agents. It also described agents as participants with identity, permissions, and shared context, rather than tools operating outside team workflows.

According to the company, agents can participate across channels, threads, and live conversations, with a persistent identity and shared context. Ando described the platform as agent-agnostic, allowing teams to bring cloud agents and harnesses they already use. It said agents can follow activity across the conversations they are part of, maintain persistent context and memory, contribute proactively, and participate in Jams.

Ando said the company was founded by Sara Du, who previously founded enterprise API platform Alloy Automation and is a Thiel Fellow. Accel, Index Ventures, Emergence Capital and Contrary Capital backed the effort, and the company said its team and early users have used the platform since January, including across multiple functions such as engineering, research, product, operations, sales, and company-building.
