Ampere's cloud semiconductor market share declines amid competition

Liftr Insights reports a decline in Ampere Computing's semiconductor market share amid increasing competition from major players like AWS, Microsoft, and Google. SoftBank's acquisition of Ampere for $6.5 billion may not mitigate the challenges posed by new Arm-based options from these competitors.

The report indicates that Ampere's share of the Arm market in the cloud has fallen from over 20% to 18.2% following the rollout of Azure Cobalt and Google Axion. AWS’s Arm-based Graviton instances also continue to grow in prevalence. Market intelligence suggests users can save an average of 30% by choosing Ampere's semiconductors over those from AMD or Intel. However, new offerings from AWS, Microsoft, and Google exert substantial competitive pressure, with Azure currently providing 8.8% better performance at a lower cost.

The article from Liftr Insights highlights a need for careful consideration by enterprise customers evaluating Ampere's offerings in the current market landscape.
