Ambarella, Inc. expanded its Ambarella Developer Zone (DevZone) to add a cloud-hosted integrated development environment, secure remote access to cloud-connected fleets of Ambarella SoC-based devices, and agentic AI development capabilities powered by Gemini Enterprise on Google Cloud Platform. The change focuses on moving development and testing activities into a hosted environment tied to live hardware.
DevZone started as an early-access program and has been used by developers since its launch at CES 2026. Ambarella said the expansion extends the environment from evaluation into daily development work and into production deployment, with onboarding occurring in stages as the connected device fleet expands.
In the expanded DevZone, the cloud-hosted IDE provides access to Ambarella SDKs, documentation, optimized models, and sample projects without local installation or configuration. Developers can also request sessions on cloud-connected fleets and run builds on live silicon, with measured latency, throughput, and power under real-world operating conditions on the target hardware. Agentic AI capabilities powered by Gemini Enterprise support coding, documentation search, troubleshooting, workflow automation, and application development.
Ambarella said the platform includes a cloud-to-edge workflow spanning prototyping, testing, deployment, and lifecycle management of AI applications, and it integrates Google Cloud Platform services for scalable development, collaboration, and deployment. The company also described collaborations that extend DevZone through model selection and fleet-scale deployment, including an integration with ZEDEDA and a partnership with Ultralytics to support Ultralytics YOLO models. “Developers evaluating an embedded AI platform need to see their own models and their own data running on the target silicon, and the time required to reach that point often determines how quickly a program moves forward,” said Muneyb Minhazuddin, Customer Growth Officer at Ambarella. “The expanded Developer Zone removes the setup work and the hardware procurement that has traditionally preceded that milestone. Our partner collaborations extend the same environment through deployment and fleet management, so that a team can carry an application from a first experiment to a managed installed base without changing tools.” Ambarella said the expanded DevZone is being rolled out now and is expected to be generally available in Q1 2027.
