Virtru promotes ACP 240 standard for allied nations

Virtru announced the adoption of Allied Communication Publication (ACP) 240 by FVEY partners and allied nations, marking a milestone in data-centric interoperability and adherence to Zero Trust security principles in military settings. The standard is crucial for facilitating secure data sharing during coalition operations.

The Zero Trust Data Format (ZTDF), at the core of Access Control Policy (ACP) 240, protects data as it travels across conflicts and various environments. ZTDF principles provide granular access control, encryption, and adherence to security policies, addressing the need for secure communication among military partners.

Developed under the Combined Communications-Electronics Board within the Five Eyes alliance, ACP 240 is now adopted by the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff and NATO. This standard also aligns with the Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control (ADC2) initiative, enhancing operational effectiveness among allied forces.

Virtru, a proponent of open standards in data security, has been influential in developing the ZTDF and the foundational Trusted Data Format (TDF). TDF is recognized by multiple government agencies for enabling secure communication while maintaining data control.

Will Ackerly, Virtru’s Co-Founder, emphasized that ACP 240 addresses longstanding needs for real-time secure information sharing, saying, “...will serve as a critical pillar of Zero Trust security for the U.S., FVEY, and NATO partners.” The implementation of ACP 240 supports key operational benefits, such as embedded encryption for data objects and protections against insider threats.

As Virtru continues to expand partnerships, companies like EverFox and Pexip are integrating Virginia’s Data Security Platform into their operations. These collaborations aim to build compliant data transfer capabilities while maintaining Zero Trust protocols. Through these efforts, Virtru supports the integration of data-centric protections across critical defense applications.

The adoption of ACP 240 represents a move towards enhancing secure collaboration among governments and defense contractors. Virtru aims to facilitate this transition across the defense ecosystem, including NATO and allied nations.
