The Apache Software Foundation names three projects top-level

The Apache Software Foundation said Apache HertzBeat, Apache Teaclave, and Apache Training became Top-Level Projects, a change in each project's status within the Foundation.

The ASF described itself as the global home of open source software the world relies on and said it provides projects with services and mentorship for building resilient and durable communities throughout their lifecycle; the Apache Incubator provides services to incoming projects called podlings.

HertzBeat was presented as an AI-powered, open source, real-time observability system that combined monitoring, alerting, and notification features into a single platform; it was designed to be agentless and to collect metrics via Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), JMX, Secure Shell (SSH), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and JDBC from web services, databases, operating systems, middleware, big data, and cloud-native environments.

Teaclave was described as an open source universal secure computing platform that used Trusted Execution Environments and provided open source SDKs primarily built with memory-safe languages like Rust; it enabled creation of Trusted Applications on confidential computing platforms including Intel SGX and Arm TrustZone and included modular components for secure storage, remote attestation, and key management. The Apache Training project was presented as an ASF initiative to create and maintain open source training materials such as slides, workshops, labs, and tutorials, with resources that were IP-approved and licensed under the Apache License 2.0.

“Becoming a Top-Level Project is an important milestone for Apache Teaclave,” said Zhaofeng Chen, Apache Teaclave Predictive Maintenance Controller (PMC) Chair. “Our community is dedicated to building memory-safe SDKs and showcases for confidential computing, and we’re excited to continue pushing the ecosystem forward.”

“Apache Training provides a shared, community-driven home for high-quality learning materials across The ASF. Its graduation reflects the growing importance of openly licensed, collaboratively maintained education for our projects,” said Justin Mclean, Vice President, Apache Training. Teaclave said it planned to continue building memory-safe SDKs and showcases for confidential computing.
