TELUS opens Canada's first fully Sovereign AI Factory
TELUS announced the inauguration of Canada’s first fully sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) factory in Rimouski, Quebec, providing immediate access to advanced AI computing power. This facility is designed to serve Canadian enterprises, researchers, and public institutions, ensuring that data remains within Canada’s borders under full Canadian control.
Operated with 100% renewable energy, the facility utilizes NVIDIA’s latest Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) technology and HPE's computing infrastructure. The Sovereign AI Factory aims to enhance AI capabilities across various sectors, including healthcare, while safeguarding sensitive data through stringent cybersecurity measures.
Darren Entwistle, President and CEO of TELUS, highlighted the factory's role in empowering Canadian businesses by offering local solutions that support autonomy over data.
