Wiretap Labs has unveiled a vendor-neutral template tailored for Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) requests for proposals (RFPs). This resource aims to aid organizations in their assessment of SASE solutions, providing customizable steps and documents to meet specific requirements.

Overview of the RFP Template

The SASE RFP template consolidates key requirements developed in partnership with industry analysts and IT decision-makers. It provides a structured framework for IT leaders to effectively create and prioritize their RFPs.

RFP Package Details

The RFP toolkit includes a PDF entitled “SASE RFP—Evaluation Categories,” which details various question categories, and an editable “SASE RFP—Vendor Response Spreadsheet” designed for scoring vendor submissions. The process is organized in stages from requirement definition to vendor assessment.

Importance of Real-World Evaluations

Once an organization selects a vendor, it is recommended to conduct practical evaluations to confirm the solution's effectiveness. Testing from independent firms like Keysight Technologies and CyberRatings.org is suggested for thorough assessments of performance in realistic situations.

Partnership with CyberRatings.org

CyberRatings.org has collaborated with SDxCentral and Decision Insights to create a toolkit focused on evaluating SASE solutions. This initiative underscores the necessity of independent validation, with the goal of simplifying the procurement process for IT professionals.

Collaboration Between Security and Network Teams

Organizations are encouraged to foster collaboration between security and network departments to improve their evaluation of SASE frameworks. A systematic approach to assessment helps mitigate risks associated with vendor selection.

Conclusion

Emphasizing independent testing and structured guidance for RFPs is crucial for enterprises as they navigate the complexities of selecting SASE solutions. This summary reflects a timely overview of the original blog post.
