JumpCloud releases e-book on agentic AI risks and governance
JumpCloud Inc. released an e-book titled “Who Let the Bot In? Control Agentic AI Before It Goes Too Far,” which explores the challenges regarding security and governance posed by the adoption of agentic Artificial Intelligence (AI). The publication includes a Risk Readiness Checklist aimed at helping organizations determine their preparedness.
Agentic AI, which functions independently similar to a digital coworker, introduces new risks that many organizations are ill-equipped to handle. A report from JumpCloud indicated that while 82% of organizations utilize AI agents, only 44% have established formal policies to manage them. This discrepancy creates vulnerabilities to unaddressed threats.
Joel Rennich, senior vice president of product management at JumpCloud, emphasized the inherent risks, stating, “Agentic AI's ability to act independently is its biggest risk. Without the right guardrails, it can cause unintended data loss, financial mistakes, or even compliance violations before anyone realizes what's happening.”
The e-book proposes an “identity-first” governance model, suggesting that AI agents should be treated similarly to human employees, with unique identities assigned and their activities monitored in real time. It serves as a resource for IT and security leaders to understand agentic AI risks and implement essential governance strategies.
