Gateworks launches GW16162 cellular modem family for industrial use
Gateworks launched the GW16162, a rugged family of end-device-certified cellular modems aimed at industrial edge applications. The GW16162 integrates Telit Cinterion's pre-certified CMB100 module, which allows users to circumvent additional RF testing and carrier approvals, streamlining the deployment process.
The modem is approved for use with leading U.S. networks, including Verizon and AT&T, and complies with FCC, IC, and PTCRB end-device standards. This facilitates a reduction in certification steps and development cycles, which may lower project risk for OEMs and system integrators developing connected solutions in areas such as smart factories and energy infrastructure.
Offered in a standard M.2 3042 B-Key form factor, the GW16162 modem is compatible with various single board computers, particularly those utilizing NXP Semiconductors' i.MX processors. Operating under extreme temperature ranges from -40 °C to +85 °C, it supports multiple cellular technologies, including Long Term Evolution (LTE) and 5G 5G New Radio (NR) RedCap, with plans for enhanced 5G support in future iterations.
The modem features dual u.FL antennas and supports common Linux drivers and tools to streamline configuration and management. Gateworks' commitment to manufacturing in the U.S. aligns with their AS9100D / ISO 9001 quality assurance protocols, emphasizing reliability for global customers.
