Elastic Launches OpenTelemetry Distributions for Developers
Elastic has released Elastic Distributions of OpenTelemetry (OTel) (EDOT), a fully open distribution aimed at site reliability engineers (SREs) and developers. EDOT offers a production-ready OTel ecosystem with enterprise-grade support, facilitating reliable infrastructure and application monitoring.
Recent research indicates that over 73% of IT decision-makers are using or planning to implement OTel, yet many face challenges such as inadequate vendor support. EDOT addresses these issues by providing expert-backed assistance and avoiding vendor lock-in, allowing users to implement OTel without the need for schema conversion.
“Enterprises adopting OpenTelemetry often struggle with unreliable support, leading to operational risks and downtime,” said Santosh Krishnan, general manager of Observability and Security at Elastic. “EDOT delivers enterprise-grade support backed by OpenTelemetry experts, helping organizations confidently adopt and scale OpenTelemetry without operational disruptions or added maintenance burden.”
EDOT is now available to all Elastic customers, with components including EDOT Java and EDOT Python. A full list of components is accessible via the Elastic blog.
