Semtech enhances AirLink XR60 router with Anterix's private spectrum
Semtech Corporation announced an enhancement to its AirLink XR60 5G Router, adding support for Anterix’s 900 Megahertz (MHz) private spectrum. This collaboration aims to improve connectivity solutions specific to the energy and utility sectors, which require robust and reliable communication technologies. The AirLink XR60 Router now operates on Anterix's standardized Band 106 private Long Term Evolution (LTE) band, which aligns with the demands of utility networks for secure and efficient communications. Through this advancement, utilities can develop private networks that enhance grid stability and operational continuity. With the inclusion of Anterix's spectrum, the AirLink XR60 Router supports both commercial networks and private LTE and 5G standalone bands. This positions the XR60 as a significant asset for utilities aiming to upgrade their infrastructure. Semtech's five-year service package, which includes technical support, hardware warranty, and remote management capabilities via the AirLink Management Service, facilitates the optimization and scalability of utility Router deployments. By integrating Anterix support, Semtech aims to enable utility operators to adopt private Network solutions effectively. The Router's capabilities respond to essential challenges faced by the utility sector, ensuring enhanced reliability and operational efficiency in complex energy environments. Semtech plans to make trial units of the AirLink XR60 available in mid-2025, with a broader commercial launch anticipated for the fall of that year. This initiative reflects both companies' commitment to advancing secure and reliable solutions for the evolving needs of the energy sector.
