Airspan Networks acquires Jabil’s Open RAN radio portfolio and R&D team
Airspan Networks has entered into an agreement to acquire Jabil’s Open RAN (ORAN) radio portfolio along with its associated intellectual property rights. This acquisition enhances Airspan’s capabilities in the development of high power macro radios.
The acquired portfolio includes a variety of single, dual, and triple band macro radios suitable for operators globally across different spectrum bands. This move aligns with Airspan’s goals for product evolution in a growing market.
In addition, Airspan plans to onboard Jabil’s former radio Research and Development (R&D) team and will sublease Jabil’s office and testing laboratories in New Jersey. Integrating Jabil’s expertise with its existing 5G solutions positions Airspan as a comprehensive player in the ORAN sector.
“Airspan is investing in advanced radio development because we see a dynamic and growing market,” stated Glenn Laxdal, CEO of Airspan Networks. “This acquisition strengthens our ability to develop market leading wireless network solutions and reinforces our position as a trusted U.S. supplier.”
Airspan will showcase its new macro radio portfolio at Mobile World Congress (MWC) Barcelona from March 3-6, in Hall 2, Booth 2E-20.
