Brooklyn 6G Summit explores AI and value creation
Brooklyn's recent 6G Summit, organized by Nokia and NYU Wireless, focused on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and value creation. Attendees included over 300 experts from technology, business, and academia, who gathered to discuss the future of wireless communications.
The event featured more than 60 speakers and panelists, drawing participation from major companies like Verizon Wireless, Intel, and Qualcomm. Many engaged in live discussions and presentations addressing advancements in 6G technology, particularly concerning energy efficiency, security, and network integration.
Nokia’s President and CEO Justin Hotard emphasized the importance of AI in developing future networks, stating that AI needs to be a foundational design element. Others, including NVIDIA’s Senior Vice President Ronnie Vasishta, discussed the contributions of AI to enhancing connectivity for users and enterprises alike.
During the summit, discussions touched upon challenges such as the uplink and device connectivity issues. Industry experts, including Arpit Mehta from Meta, explored new immersive experiences shaped by AI technology.
The summit also celebrated Nokia Bell Labs' historical contributions to telecommunications and recognized emerging leaders in the field. Dave Forney received the Pioneer Award, while Professor Andrea Goldsmith was honored for her achievements as a female technologist.
The summit concluded with a perspective on future collaboration among academia and industry, aiming to maximize the potential of the upcoming 6G technology, as noted by NYU Wireless founder Ted Rappaport.
