Booz Allen and Shield AI partner on autonomous systems for military use
Booz Allen Hamilton and Shield Artificial Intelligence (AI) have announced a partnership aimed at delivering AI-enabled, software-defined autonomous solutions for the U.S. government. This collaboration will initially focus on the Department of Defense, combining Booz Allen’s deep mission engineering experience with Shield AI’s Hivemind Enterprise platform.
The partnership seeks to accelerate the development and integration of advanced AI autonomy in uncrewed systems, enhancing military operational capabilities and providing essential decision advantages in threat scenarios.
According to Steve Escaravage, president of Booz Allen’s Defense Technology Group, this partnership is designed to support the nation's critical missions. Brandon Tseng, co-founder of Shield AI, emphasized the importance of employing technology effectively for warfighters' needs.
Booz Allen's recent investment in Shield AI during the F-1 strategic funding round aims to expand deployment of the Hivemind Enterprise platform and bolster the production of autonomy solutions.
Furthermore, Shield AI’s Hivemind software enhances the piloting of autonomous vehicles and supports operations under jamming conditions, showcasing its potential for various national security missions.
As both companies look to leverage their enhanced technological capabilities, they aim to address evolving adversarial challenges faced by the U.S. military while ensuring the safety of service members.
