Semtech enhances AirLink XR60 router with Anterix's private spectrum support

Semtech Corporation announced an enhancement to its AirLink XR60 5G router with support for Anterix's 900 Megahertz (MHz) private spectrum, specifically designed for the utility sector. This collaboration integrates the newly standardized Band 106 private Long Term Evolution (LTE) band, providing high-performance connectivity tailored to the energy and utility networks.

The AirLink XR60 router operates on Anterix’s spectrum, which has been standardized under 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Release 18 as band 106. This positions the XR60 as a key asset for adopting private networks in the utility space. With 900 MHz private LTE emerging as a critical standard, the XR60 aims to enhance operational continuity, grid stability, and long-term infrastructure goals.

Semtech’s vice president of networking solutions, Kinana Hussain, commented on the integration, highlighting its role in enabling utility operators to improve their infrastructure while enhancing efficiency and security. Steve Ryan, vice president at Anterix, also expressed enthusiasm for this collaboration, which he believes will expand the utility market's access to their private broadband spectrum technology.

Trial units with Anterix support are expected to be available by mid-2025, with commercial availability scheduled for the fall. The details were shared during the announcement, with an invitation for interested parties to arrange trials or visit the company's website for further information.
