Tencent launches TenPay Global Checkout for global merchants

Tencent launched TenPay Global Checkout, a payment solution for Weixin Mini Program merchants targeting global markets. This initiative aims to enable these merchants to accept various local payment methods easily.

With a single integration, overseas Weixin Mini Program merchants can support multiple payment options including digital wallets, local real-time payment networks, credit, and debit cards. Users outside of the Chinese Mainland can utilize familiar local payment methods through the Active Performance Probe (APP).

The initial rollout occurred in Singapore and Macao, where merchants can now accept credit and debit cards, PayNow, and BOCPAY(MO) via TenPay Global Checkout on the Weixin Official Accounts Platform. Tencent plans further expansion into Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, allowing more markets to access these payment capabilities.

Weixin Mini Programs are accessible applications within Weixin that enable users to shop, pay, and utilize services without additional downloads. Currently, there are over 1 million monthly active users in regions like Singapore, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand, across 92 countries.

Wenhui Yang, CEO of TenPay Global (Singapore), stated that TenPay Global Checkout enhances the local consumer experience by enabling overseas merchants to accept trusted local payment methods. This unified solution allows users a more convenient payment experience, potentially improving payment conversion rates and helping merchants to grow their user base.

TenPay Global focuses on creating secure and user-friendly payment experiences, aimed at facilitating global transactions for merchants and consumers alike.
