Nokia and OneLayer partner to enhance secure private 5G adoption for utilities
Nokia and OneLayer partnered to enhance the adoption of secure private 5G and Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks for utility companies. This collaboration combines Nokia’s mission-critical private network solutions with OneLayer’s Operational technology (OT) asset visibility and management, aiming to modernize grid infrastructure.
The increase in connected devices poses security challenges, Autonomous System (AS) the ease of interaction between assets Converged Access Network (CAN) expose networks to vulnerabilities. A report indicated that 81 percent of cyber claims over the past four years stemmed from external threats, underscoring the need for robust security measures.
Nokia’s NetGuard Endpoint Detection And Response (EDR) offers telco-grade real-time threat detection, and it integrates with OneLayer’s security features to protect utility endpoints. The combined solution employs a zero-trust framework, providing advanced capabilities such AS asset discovery and anomaly detection, thus enhancing the security profile of private cellular networks.
Dave Mor, CEO of OneLayer, acknowledged the collaboration, stating, “We are proud to partner with a leader in private 5G/LTE solutions and to empower utility companies to leverage our combined value for mission-critical networks.” Prakash Sagadopan of Nokia highlighted the importance of secured solutions across utilities, enhancing Internet of Things (IoT) visibility and zero-trust security.
Nokia’s hardware Hardware Attestation Service (HAS) a history of providing resilient network solutions globally, including to various U.S. Investor-Owned Utilities, and OneLayer focuses on delivering visibility and management across private LTE and 5G networks.
